Life of a Puppy at Ohio Dobermans

As part of our commitment to excellence, here is a small peek into the life of an Ohio Dobermans puppy:

Puppies are born in a private family home surrounded by loving and experienced humans to attend to the whelping (birthing) process.

Starting at just a few days old, pups are slowly introduced to a variety of stimuli to increase their overall adaptability to the environment.

At a few weeks old, they begin the weaning process by receiving soft puppy food directly from the hands of humans. This strengthens their relationship with humans and begins their desire for food luring (eventually used for training).

At 7 weeks old, pups are temperament tested for behavioral characteristics by evaluating the pups' individual responses to a series of unique stimuli.  Based primarily on the results of this test, we recommend the best homes for each puppy.

7-9 weeks old puppies are taken to the best ear crop vet in the USA (Dr Anne Midgarden) for their standard length crop.

At 8 weeks old (or after), your pup will be ready to come home with:
• Ear crop
• Microchip
• Tail docked
• Vet checked
• AKC Registration
• Health Guarantee
• Dew claws removed
• DNA results for both parents
• All applicable heath test results for both parents
• Up to date vaccines & deworming
• Lifetime telephone support
